Darien Boat Club Members:
As you may already know, Tuesday, March 9th at 8:00pm the
Board of Finance met on the Selectman's Proposed Budget for 2004-2005. One
of the items on the agenda that greatly effects The Boat Club and it's
members is the proposed Boat Ramp Replacement at Pear Tree Point Beach.
Anyone who has used this ramp knows that it is in
dire need of repair. The bulkheads have settled and large boulders have
fallen out, the sidewalk on top of the bulkhead has shifted and is now
angled downward, the ramp itself has numerous potholes that have become very
deep over the years. In the past it has been proposed more than once by the
Selectmen to repair the ramp, but has been cut out of the budget.
Last Tuesday night, members of the Darien Boat Club
Executive Committee attended this hearing, and voiced support for the much
needed repairs. The Executive Committee would also like to call upon the
Club Membership to support this cause. The Board of Finance will be making
a final decision later this month. Please write to the Board of
Finance at Town Hall and urge them to approve the repairs that are long over
due. Your support will greatly help the Boat Club Membership as well
as the Citizens of Darien.
Thank you,
The Executive Committee
