Dear Fellow Members:

The first General Meeting will be on February 2nd. [Refreshments will be served.] We urge as many of you as possible to attend to hear where we stand with the Town on the proposed land expansion.

We have invited Mrs. Jennette Brown, Executive Director of the Stamford Water Pollution Department to speak to us on Wastewater Treatment and Pollution in Long Island Sound. It should be an interesting talk with a question and answer period to follow.

Thanks to our new Project Member Tom Lochtefeld, who has agreed to be in charge of the Racks & Lockers, we have finally worked out an agreement with BoatUS that should benefit all of us.

BoatUS provides a vast range of services, information and savings to recreational boaters, including:

• An effective lobby that fights unfair taxes, fees and government regulations that single out boat owners, Members-only discounts, and Member Rewards with BoatUS equipment purchases.

• Discounts on fuel, overnight slips or repairs at more than 600 marinas, coast to coast.

• Low-cost, high-protection boat insurance, including special programs for trailerable boats and PWCs.

• On-the-Water Towing, with your choice of service levels, from $50 per incident (free with Membership) up to Unlimited Service, provided by the nation's largest towing network, TowBoatUS!

Boat/US. Magazine — a full year's subscription is included, as well as a copy of the 700-page BoatUS Discount Equipment Catalog!

For more information, call Tom Lochtefeld @203-662-0247, or e-mail him at "tomloch@snet.net."

If you are renewing your BoatUS Membership, be sure to mention the Darien Boat Club Co-op Group #GA84802B to get the special $9.50 rate. Club officers encourage you to take advantage of this valuable new program at a lost cost that is available only to BoatUS Cooperating Groups like ours.

Enclosed with the Newsletter is a form to be filled out and returned to John Keena who, with the help of Link Jewett, is compiling a roster of the club to be published this year. You may also send your information online at

www.darienboatclub.org.

Reminder: Dues and fees are due and payable by February 1st.

I look forward to seeing you on February 2nd at 8:00 P.M.

Sincerely,

Tom Williams, Commodore
