February 1st: All dues and fees must be paid by February 1st. Dues and fees not paid by February 15th will result in loss of membership and facilities assigned.

February 15th: Any requests for slip wait list changes must be submitted to the Fleet Captain in writing by this date in order to be honored for that year. Any requests after this date will not be acted upon until the following year (January 1st).

Opening Day: The first Saturday in May.

May 1st: Slip Holder Agreements Due; this includes the signed agreement,
Connecticut DMV Registration, and proof on Insurance.

June 15th: All facilities must be occupied by June 15th of each year. Facilities include; slips, lockers, racks, and dinghy chains.

Closing Day: The first Sunday in November.

Can my spouse vote for me if I can’t make it to a meeting?

Article 14, Section 2 of the Bylaws clearly states “Only the active, honorary, or senior citizen member of a member family present at a meeting may vote.”

How can I get a better idea of when I’ll get a slip?

The wait lists are estimates and there is no telling when people might give up their slips. We might turnover 20 slips one year, but only 1-2 the next year. Our estimates are based on averages over many years.

When are the wait lists updated?

The wait lists are updated during the year, but only reordered once a year prior to the season on February 15. This ensures no gaming the system during the year if one wait list moves faster than another.

How can I find my position on a waitlist?

Wait lists are available for all to see 24/7. Go to the DBC website, log into Online Mooring via the link, then scroll down to view the waitlists.

Can I offer cash tips to the staff?

Yes, please do so if the dockhands, launch drivers or manager provide excellent and friendly service.

Does the boat club require a parking sticker for Pear Tree Point Park?

Yes, the Darien Boat Club is located within Pear Tree Point Park. Admission to the park is regulated by the Town, and the Town requires a beach sticker.

Do I have to be a member to buy gas?

Yes, the Club’s gas station is a benefit reserved for members to ensure availability and manage resources effectively. However, in cases where a non-member is low on fuel, we can provide a limited amount to help them safely reach the nearest gas dock in Norwalk or Stamford.

Can I use the Club room in the off-season?

Unfortunately, we use the Club Room to store items in the off season. Members can technically come down in the off season, but please note there are no restroom facilities available. Members are also prohibited from disrupting the stored furniture.

Why can’t we have power on the docks?

The cost of introducing, then maintaining power on the docks is prohibitive, and would only benefit a handful of members.

Can people park on the gas dock or at the end of “B-Dock” overnight?

Boats should not be left on the gas dock or the end of B-Dock without prior permission from the Club manager. Keep in mind that boats drop off and pick up passengers from the gas dock 24-7. We cannot have boats impeding this activity.

Is it possible that someone that joined the Club after me got a slip before me?

Yes, you may be on different wait lists, there are several different wait lists depending on your Boat Class Size with different wait lists lengths.

I gave up my slip for a couple of years and when I wanted it back I was not number one on the wait list. What happened?

All slips are distributed as per the bylaws and rules and regulations. If you give up a slip, and then want it back at a later date, you will be added back to the wait list according to your bond date. Lists are re-ordered on February 15 for the entire year. The oldest bond dates will have the highest priority.

Required Slip Holder Documentation

At Darien Boat Club, we require three pieces of documentation from Slip Holders. #2 and #3 below need to be uploaded (see link to instructions below) by the Slip Holder to the MooringInfo.com website before May 1 of the current boating season.

1) Slip Holder Agreement – This document is attached to your on-line Invoice and delivered in December prior to the season. Payment of your Invoice is acknowledgement that you have received and will abide by the Agreement. For those Slip Holders in Furloughed slips, we will send you a copy of the agreement for signature and you need to return it to the FleetAdmin @ FleetAdmin@DarienBoatClub.org

2) Insurance – We need a copy of your insurance information that contains at minimum – Slip Holder Name, Slip Holder Address, Expiration Date (must be after May 1, of the current boating season), Boat Details, & indication of Liability Insurance of $300k or greater. Any people listed as “Additional Insured” will be subject to question by the Board. See link below for example of good paperwork.

3) Boat Registration – We need a copy of the current registration for the boat you will have docked at the Club. Registration must be for the current year (expires the April following the Boating season). For instance, the Registration for the 2025 boating season would need a 4/30/2026 expiration date. Note that the primary name and mailing address must match the member’s name and address on record at the Club. Any exceptions must be discussed and approved ahead of time. No joint registrations will be accepted unless approved ahead of time (usually in conjunction with an approved slip partnership). The address and mailing address (middle section), must match the address of the Slip Holder on file at the Club. See link below for example of good paperwork.

Your address will be kept confidential. Please include your full name in the e-mail so that you can be identified as a member.

I agree to the following:

1. This Agreement is in partial consideration for access to the Darien Boat Club Launch Service for the upcoming boating season, subject to the prompt payment of my launch service fees (separately invoiced).

2. I have read and will abide by the Darien Boat Club “Bylaws,” and “House and Ground Rules,” Copies of these documents are available at the Club or at our web site:www.darienboatclub.org

3. I agree to maintain all necessary precautions for safety on the launch including requiring any additional passengers in my party under the age of 12 to wear life jackets.

4. There are no open alcoholic containers permitted on the launch.

5. I agree the hours of launch service operations can be changed without notice due to potential changes in weather conditions, forecast and availability of launch operator. Safety being a priority, the launch operation will be subject to the Boat Club manager’s and/or launch operator’s discretion with respect to water and weather conditions in the harbor.

6. I agree to notify the Launch Captain if I have not received my Launch Service Agreement for the upcoming season. If no such notification is made, the Darien Boat Club will consider the Launch Service Agreement delivered. A copy of this Agreement can be found at our web site: www.darienboatclub.org

7. I agree that the Executive Committee of the Darien Boat Club shall have the final say and ruling on all terms contained in this agreement, and agreement cannot be modified in anyway without the written permission of the Executive Committee.

8. Launch user agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Darien Boat Club from any and all liabilities arising out of Launch user’s negligence, whether it be sole or in concert with guests, in connection with their use of the services provided by Darien Boat Club launch service as described herein.

DARIEN BOAT CLUB SLIP HOLDER AGREEMENT

1. This Agreement is in partial consideration for access to a slip for the upcoming season subject to the prompt payment of my slip fees (separately invoiced)

2. I have read and will abide by the Darien Boat Club “Bylaws,” and “House and Ground Rules. Copies of these documents are available on our web site: www.darienboatclub.org

3. Acknowledging that often times smaller boats are assigned to larger class slips to bring members off the wait list sooner, I agree that if my boat of record will fit within the specifications of a smaller “Class” slip than the slip assigned to me, that I will allow the Fleet Captain to “right-size” my slip if necessary. Furthermore, as occupant of the larger slip, I agree that I will notify the Fleet Captain by e-mail (with acknowledgement) prior to February 15th of the upcoming season if I plan to put a larger boat into my assigned slip.

4. I will submit 1) a copy of my upcoming season Connecticut DMV Boat Registration (herein after Registration) and 2) a copy of the coverage (declaration) page(s) of my insurance policy showing at least $300,000.00 per person, per incident of liability coverage (herein after Insurance) to be received by the Club before 5:00 PM, May 1 of the upcoming season. I will include insurance document pages that contain my name, address, boat information, policy expiration date, and proof of $300k or greater liability insurance. While the Club prefers members to upload these documents to the dbcct.mooringinfo.com website (simple upload instructions in the Library @ dbcct.mooringinfo.com), we will as last resort accept documents by e-mail, or paper mail at the addresses listed below.

5. I agree to maintain the coverage levels shown on my Insurance Documents for the entire upcoming boating season.

6. If I fail to return my Registration or my Insurance to the address below by the deadline of 5:00 PM May 1 of the upcoming season, I agree to pay a fine of one half my slip fees. If I further fail to return my Registration, or my Insurance or the fine to the address below by 5:00 PM on May 15 of the upcoming season, I agree to forfeit my slip and be off the slip waiting list for a period of 3 years.

7. I will have my boat in the slip by 5:00 PM on June 15 of the upcoming season.

8. Any slip forfeited between opening day and June 15th will be reimbursed only 50% of annual slip fees. Slips forfeited after June 15th will not be reimbursed.

9. If I fail to have my boat in the slip by June 15 of the upcoming season, I agree to pay a fine of one half my slip fees. If I further fail to have my Boat in the slip or I do not pay the fine by 5:00 PM June 22, of the upcoming season, I agree to forfeit my slip and be off the slip waiting list for a period of 3 years.

10. I understand that any requests for extensions of the June 15th deadline due to SIGNIFICANT mechanical or medical reasons must be made by e-mail (with acknowledgement) to the Fleet Captain by 5:00 PM on June 8 of the upcoming season, and that no extensions will be granted beyond July 15 of the upcoming season.

11. I agree to have my boat and frog hooks (triangular portion) out of the slip and off Darien Boat Club docks by 5:00 PM the first Sunday in November of the upcoming season. I also agree to remove any brackets that protrude more than 6” from the dock.

12. I agree to pay a fine of $100.00 a day, for up to 5 days after the first Sunday in November of the upcoming season if my boat and frog hooks as described above are not removed, after which loss of slip space will occur and membership may be terminated.

13. This Agreement is a standard Agreement for all Slip Holders at the Darien Boat Club and is attached to your annual invoice. Payment acknowledges acceptance of all current DBC House and Ground Rules as well as conditions of this Agreement.

14. I agree that the Executive Committee of the Darien Boat Club shall have the final say and ruling on all terms contained in this Agreement and the Agreement cannot be modified in anyway without the written permission of the Executive Committee.

A. Before you complete an Application for Dockside Mooring Space you will need
to determine the length of your boat. This diagram shows the various
reference points that you will need to provide on your application.

Q. What do I do if I purchase a larger, smaller, or different boat than specified on
my original Dockside Mooring Space Application?

A. Any changes to make, model, or size must be submitted in writing to the Fleet Captain
as a new application for Dockside Mooring Space. Submitting a new/updated
application will not effect your original application date.
